You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers!

So how many of you were really disappointed at the conclusion of the last “Blog” entry? All I can say is that I credit it to the fact that I’m now getting accustomed to Soap Opera climactic cliff hangers. I’ll try not to do that again. Yeah, I know it was cheesy, but I had to try something new, LOL! Alright, so as I promised before, I wanted to make this entry more fun, possibly interactive (future responses) for all of us.

I know that we’ve all read “Cosmopolitan”, ”GQ”, “Seventeen” (depending on our ages) magazines and learned a lot about our favorite celebrities from either the “Q and A’s” or the “My Favorite” columns. Well, I don’t think there are any future plans for a “GQ” spread on me, so I figured I'd do one just for the hell of it so that people could get to know more about John Driscoll the person.

Full Name: John Edmund Driscoll
D.O.B.: June, 27

Astrological Sign: Cancer

Birthplace: Fairfax, Virginia

Current Residence: Brooklyn, New York

Family: youngest of three children (pain in the butt by the way!)

Pets: Bird (Pah Poo), Cat (Kitty), and Dog (Mickey) all deceased God Bless’em!

Hobbies: Reading, writing (casually), any outdoor sport, singing, dancing, going to the movies, working out, and just listening to good music.

Now for the “My Favorite” categories:
My Favorite Author: Edgar Rice Burroughs

My favorite Actor: there are so many great actors I watch and try to pull from.
My Favorite Book Series: Princess of Mars or Harry Potter (I’ll admit that I still have kid moments, besides I’m an uncle now)
My Favorite Color(s): Midnight Blue or Forrest Green
My Favorite Food: Chinese cuisine (General Tso’s Chicken baby)

My Favorite Movie: Henry V and any Kenneth Brannaugh production

My Favorite Song: Any rendition of Amazing Grace, sucker for classics

My Favorite Car: any style of Lincoln, I love big cars!

My Favorite Music Group: U2 followed by the Goo Goo Dolls

My Favorite Season: Fall, better fashions and beautiful scenery

My Favorite Candy: Milk Duds, they’re chocolate covered pieces of heaven, LOL!

My Favorite TV Show: Iron Chef, I can’t cook to save my life so I live vicariously through them

My Favorite Clothing Style: Abercrombie & Fitch, it really is all about comfort

My Favorite Pastime: doing any kind of charity work (American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels, Animal rights groups)

And lastly
: My Favorite Daytime Drama: Guiding Light, it was a tough one b/c they’re all so good, but I have to go on the great acting here, LOL!

This is obviously a very abridged list and there are so many other topics I could touch on, but this will have to do for now. If there are any other specific areas that ya’ll want to know about, just ask and I’ll get to them when I can. I was hoping to talk about my Thanksgiving Holiday and the adventures that brought, but I think I’ll save that one for next time. Hope everyone else had a wonderful Turkey Day and guess what….only twenty four more shopping days until CHRISTMAS! Now if you’re like me, then you’ll most likely wait until the last possible moment to do all of it and basically give the gifts in the bags that you purchased them in (it has happened before), LOL!

Hi,

I just wanted to say that you do a fantastic job on the show. I am big into U2 and charity work as well...its good to see that I'm not the only person under 25 (I assume you're under 25) to do charity work.

I wanted to ask: What made you decide to go into acting? I was originally a theatre major in college, but then I went into the writing aspect of it. Just wondering.

Good luck with your Christmas shopping!

Hey John,
I had no idea your middle name was Edmund! Thats like one of my favorite names (not just because of David :) I just love classic names) And your almost a gemini! Well you're born in June so you're cool (my birthday is June 6). I'm a huge Goo Goo Dolls fan too. Don't worry I can't cook either.

Well, that was fun, getting to know you a little better. Can I ask you a question? Who is your favorite person to do a scene with? Who haven't you got the opportunity to work with alot but would love to? And Who is the funniest person on GL? OK-that turned into 3 questions...Anyway, have fun shopping, and theres nothing wrong with leaving them in the bags you bought them in. I said-I spent enough money on the presents, they'll just have to get over the wrapping. Plus somethings are a very difficult shape to wrap!

Have a nice day.

Hey I just found this site. I met you at the fanclub luncheon and it's great to learn more about you. U2 is one of my favorite bands as well, and I love Harry Potter, I use my 9 year old sister as an excuse for my kid moments. Anyways, I'm really enjoying the show and look forward to future posts.

Quick question if don't mind,

How old are you? and are you dating anyone?

Dear John,
It's so amazing for me to talk to you after I met you on Ricky Paull Goldin's harbor cruise, what a great experience. I was very pleased to hear that you like Abercrombie, (same here) and my newest thing is wearing UGGS. I have one word to describe them, COMFORTABLE!!! You should get the men's slippers, or I could just send you a pair, lol!! I also wondered if you liked Mariah Carey's version of Amazing Grace, it's amazing if you haven't heard it, I totally appreciate her voice and vocal range! Another thing....we all have a kid inside of us, so don't be ashamed of liking Harry Potter, it's the bomb!! I want to know how your Thanksgiving went!! Talk to you soon.
Love,
Lynne
P.S.- I love general Tso's chicken too, YUMMYYYYY :)

Hey Johm,

How are you? It is great to know so many fascinating things about you, especially since this website is not distorted by the media. We met on the Gus Bus Harbor Cruise. It was really nice meeting you. We had a nice conversation about how you landed the job on Guiding Light. I told you I was from Philly, anyway I don't know if you remember me. Keep up the great job at Guiding Light. You have done a wonderful job on the show.

Later,
Monica

I love you John on GL....and I think its cool that you have this blog....but unlike alot of people who have posted a comment I do not like Harry Potter....Harry Potter is presented as something wholesome and good and harmless...but it is full of the Occult and I will not read it or ever let a child of mine read it...and I know people will be like "well if you never read it how do you know its full of the Occult?" The answer it I have read a book called "Harry Potter and the Bible" and the book lets the reader know what things in Harry Potter actually mean and how they are tied to the Occult...I have even heard stories of how kids will start experimenting w/ the Occult and things like that b/c they want Power like Harry Potter....and kids will turn away from the Bible...now to me that is not something that is harmless....I am not saying anything bad about the people who read it...its just alot of people are decieved into believeing its a story of makebelieve.

I guess I'm the Lynn without the "e". Enjoyed your last post here. It's such a nice way to get to know the real you. It's no fun shopping at the last moment for Christmas, unless you're all done and you go just to see everyone ELSE roaming around with glazed eyes and resigned expressions. It's more fun watching those people. I'm a Gemini, so I have to let my evil twin have some fun! LOL

Oh, man. It's, like, a rule that people born in June have to rock hardcore, or something (I was born on June 1st). For starters, Harry Potter is incredible. I mean, J.K. Rowling is just brilliant. For crying out loud, she made a sport to go with her books. Which book is your favorite? Or can you pick?

I adore the Goo Goo Dolls. 'Iris,' (you know, from the City of Angels soundtrack) is one of my favorite songs of all time. It's one of those songs I constantly find in my head, and I never want to get out.

I love that you consider charity work a pasttime. That's so amazing. Not many people say that. I'm not going to lie...I regret to say that I'm not involved in many charities around here. I do participate, but not as much as I should. Maybe I'll follow your example and get a little more involved, eh?

Hope to hear from you soon!

I agree with Jess. Those colors must be from the years and years of colored eggs. Although I tend to prefer Mustard Yellow! Turkey Day was good for me. Tons of people but isn't that what the holidays are all about anyways? Although I could've done without the screaming baby. We did have a baby at our house over the weekend though--cutest baby I may have ever seen. Any big plans for the holidays? In particular New Years? If you're looking for something fun to do, let me know. Alright..back to studying for me. If only I could become a soap star, I wouldn't have to worry about college anymore! Hopefully I'll see you soon. Talk to u later...

OK, apparently I'm an idiot because I deleted my own post somehow. I guess that's what happens when I'm stressed out of my mind with college stuff and not paying attention to what I'm doing. Anyway, John, awesome job on GL. I also have a suggestion for you about the Christmas stuff and giving people gifts in the bags you bought them in. I've done this before and it works. When you know you're going to start Christmas shopping, keep a supply of various sized gift bags and tissue wrap in the backseat of your car. And a pen! Then, before you even pull out of the parking lot, find an appropriately sized bag, put some tissue wrap in it, put the gift in, write a name on it, and there ya go! All ready to go!

I'm also a huge Harry Potter fan, but my favorite current books are Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet In Heaven. You mentioning bieng a godfather to your nephew sparked my curiosity as to what your religious affiliation is.

Thanks for reading!

BTW, Goo Goo Dolls, kicks butt! Johnny Rzeznik (is that how you spell his name?) is amazing! (pretty darn sexy too, if you like that bad boy, rocker type LOL)

Anyway, hope things are going well on the show for you and my buddy Stephen. :) Keep up the good work!

Hi Lara! Yes, I did see the MFT movie of "The Five People You Meet In Heaven." I enjoyed it so much when it was shown on the regular ABC station, that when it was on again on ABC Family, I recorded it. Thanks for the offer of the tape though! I highly recommend both the book and the movie to everybody. I recommend it to you too, John!
