IT'S GETTING HOT IN HERE!

Hey, everyone! It’s about seven in the morning on Wednesday and I couldn’t think of anything better to do than to bang out another BLOG entry (I know my life is lame, but don’t laugh at me). In particular, I wanted to talk about a rather good day I had at work this past Friday (May 6th) along with an adventure I’m going on this weekend. I know that this entry will shock most of you considering that I just posted an entry last week and you all are SO accustomed to reading them on a monthly basis, but I’m getting better you have to admit!

Last week was a somewhat heavy week for me. I had three days of shooting involving some interesting conversations with Lizzie, along with some crazy business decisions (no I won’t tell so don’t ask, LOL). Of all these days though, Friday was by far the best day for me as well as the scariest thus far…I had to Strip Down! Yes, the day has finally come when Henry Cooper Bradshaw reveals himself (not the Full Monty mind you). When I read the script for the first time I was like “alright, I can do this…oh no, what’s mom going to think?” I have yet to tell her; thankfully she doesn’t read these entries. Anyways, I spent the few days that I had before Friday’s shooting in the gym trying to tone up any problem areas so I didn’t look too scrawny on tape. I think it was actually more of a mental thing to make me feel better than anything else. I mean c’mon, how much improvement can be done in like three days, LOL!

So I got to the set that day and had my lines down with ease, but the butterflies were just not subsiding, in fact they were getting faster and multiplying like crazy. Everyone there at the studio that day was getting a kick out of watching me pace up and down the hallways, making little jokes here and there. OH, and to top it off, when I went down to the make-up room to get done up, they had to cover me in body tanning paint so I didn’t look so white…that’s a real morale booster. Obviously, New York had a long winter and I didn’t make enough trips down south or to the local tanning joint to put some color on myself. After that little set-back, it was time to head up to set and get the show on the road….now fast forward (can’t give too much away). Yadda yadda yadda -I’m in a suit- blah blah blah -I’m out of the suit - and scene! As soon as Crystal and I were done, we literally walked off set only to be met by Ellen Wheeler (our Executive Producer), Jan Conklin (producer) and Brian Mertez (the director of this episode) who just simply said, “Unbelievably Cute”.

I guess everything turned out better than we all expected. I mean, I have to say that at least on my behalf, the acting felt smooth, natural, and oh, so riddled with sensuality, LOL! Crystal has this sexiness about her that when she turns it on, can melt even the coldest heart. It’s unbelievable. It’s a shame that we don’t get to play that more often. Perhaps after this show airs, which will be the beginning of June sometime, viewers just might be calling on us to show a little bit more. Let me just say that having all three of them giving both Crystal and I these simple compliments made my day, and more importantly helped me believe that the story that we (Crystal and I) are telling really is working. I think that it is important for any Executive of any show to make it a point to mention that their performers are doing a good job, especially in daytime soaps where time is money and everyone just wants to get through the day. Most of the time this (feedback) doesn’t happen so sometimes actors leave the building thinking that the work they did was complete crap when, on the contrary, it was quite good and the film saw a different story. Ellen is a very good Executive and her coming out of the booth to spend five minutes with Crystal and me spoke volumes about her character as a person, not just the “boss,” I came in to work that day nervous and uncomfortable and left feeling great about the performance I gave. What an awesome feeling! Now let’s see if I can just figure out and duplicate what the hell I did.

Moving on to the adventure this weekend, a good friend of mine is graduating from college and unbeknownst to them, I will be in attendance at the ceremony. They asked me months ago, and I told them that I would be there, but as it got closer to the date, I realized that I might be able to have some fun with this….I know, it’s shrewd and manipulative and screwing with their emotions but that is the kind of fun friendship we have, LOL. I really do hope that they will not read this Blog entry until this weekend or at all, otherwise the joke will be on me, but if this all works out, then what a surprise it will be! Their mother knows that I am coming to town and will be the one to pick me up from the airport, so now I just have to figure out what (timing wise) will be the best way to surprise them. The friend is a female, so if you have any suggestions of things to do or bring that might be appropriate for a college graduation, please let me know.

One last thing before I go, Procter and Gamble Productions has started a new promotional campaign push for both ATWT and GL. This push involves steamy posters here in the NYC area of various favorites from the two shows, and theatrical trailers at selected movie theatres in the Detroit and St. Louis involving your favorite couples and duo’s. So be on the look out while you are traveling through or back to these areas. You never know when you’ll turn the corner and find us staring back at you.

“I have to say I think you are the sweetest and the most funniest. I got to meet you in Marco on the sunday cruise. I also need to say Thank you for the dance. Yes I am still on cloud 9 as Julie said. Our pics turn out so good. By the way My dad said it was the best birthday present ever,he really enjoyed himself. Thank you so much for the great time. Hope to see you next year!” -Heather

All the best to you all and keep the comments coming!

I almost choked on my breakfast when I saw that you had posted in such a short time frame from the last one! LOL
I'm so glad to read that the storyline for Lizzie and Coop is finally sounding like its going to pick up - and not just b/c you'll be shirtless... ;)
Keep up the good work on the show! Oh, and thanks for the title of the blog, I'll have that song in my head all day now...
Have a great weekend catching up with your friend, its sweet of you to take the time to go hang with her.

Well, I am a little late getting here, b/c I had no idea how to create an account on this thing..but anyway..I had to sign up so I could come here and brag on John for a minute. I met John in Marco Island and he is one of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet. I went down to Marco only because I wanted to meet Doug Hutchison, but I left with complete admiration for John. I am glad that success hasn't gone to your head. Please do not change John. I hope that we will see you in Marco Island next year, (be sure you bring Doug with you;)) We had the greatest time, and owe part of that to you. I'm looking forward to seeing you on GL more. Those scenes sound great! Just keep being John, and great things will continue to happen.

John,

Trust me when I say you probably have about every Coop and Lizzie fan across the internet going madly insane waiting for the month of May to be over and I am right there with you on the lack of colour being from Toronto. Usually by this time of year, we are at least in the mid twenties (speaking is celcius terms). If you're as Irish as me, you won't have enough tan until July so here's hoping GL's make up department stocks up. ;)

Re: Coop and Lizzie. Do you and Crystal realize the growing fan base this couple has? I think the story line has really hit its stride. Its hard when a show's fan base does not have as many young demos in the ratings as other soaps and therefore it can be difficult to read where your story stands but I think if GL is smart, it will stay committed to this couple. It has been nicely developed, well written and its lead by two wonderful actors.

The family aspect is also great for riveting drama espcially with Ron Raines and Justin Deas at the helm of it. You're lucky to be playing opposite two veterans of daytime such as them. On a side note, my mouth dropped to the floor when I saw Alan (Ron) lunge at Coop the other day...did you get hurt? That man seriously knows how to look convincingly aggressive!

Anyway, I just wanted to say congrats on whatever scene you just pulled off...it sounds like everything went off without a hitch...that's good. Looking forward to the expanded story line!

Take care,

Erin

I guess it's a good thing I read spoilers from a couple different GL boards, or I wouldn't have known you'd posted again. I wasn't planning on checking for a new post for at least another week and a half.

As for your friend who's graduating from college, you might want to get her something that will help her get started in her first job out of college. I'll give you an example: last semester one of my friends graduated with a degree in interior design and I got her a gift card to Hobby Lobby so she could buy her graphing paper and materials she'd need to make scale models for her clients. This semester, one of my friends is graduating with an elementary education degree and I'm going to give her a variety of things she'll be able to use in her classroom: pens, sticky notes, filing folders to go in the filing cabinet, etc. So that's a route you could take for a graduation gift.

I'm also really glad to know you and Crystal Hunt are going to be getting more screen time. I love Gus and Harley and the new Dinah, but at 22 years old, I'd like to see a bit more of people around my own age. I'm sure you both did a great job. Until next time, take care.

John,

Hey there!! I'm surprised to see a new blog entry so soon!! LOL

As someone said earlier you now have all Coop/ Lizzie fans waiting for the month of May to pass :)LOL

I love Coop and Lizzie's storyline. It's great. I love how Coop wants to but yet at the same time doesn't want to like, or dare I say love Lizzie. I was watching the scene the other day where they were at Phillip's grave and I was watching Coop and he hates to see when Lizzie is hurt or upset.

Both you and Crystal are doing and awesome job!

I also love watching the family aspects with this story both know the families (certain members) would go crazy if Coop and Lizzie were together but its as if both the younger Cooper and Spaulding want the feud to be over and if it ends they will be the ones to end it. I love this whole story.

Hope you have a good time with your friend.

Keep up the great work! I'll see you again in October.

Take Care,

Shanna

John, John, John...what can I say? I'm so proud of you and your blogging! I usually check this thing every day--just in case--but I checked my email first and Terri had emailed to let me know, "Wow! John posted another blog already!"

Now, about this scene...hello! I am thrilled that your storyline is picking up. I simply adore Coop and Lizzie, but there is just not enough of them. And when they're on, the story is usually tied in a neat little bow at the end of the day so I know they won't be on the next day. So I am earnestly looking forward to having two days in a row!! Should I hope for three?

I find it hilarious (and quite endearing, mind you) that you had to be painted tan. LOL! Being that I'm a redhead, I have that pale, fair skin so my version of a "summer tan" looks about like most folk's "winter white." If I have a special occasion (and we're talking strapless gown here, not stripping down for national TV) then I go and get myself one of those spray on tans, too.

You better tell your Mom soon about your strip tease (LOL)...I recall what she said about your calendar appearance (being thankful you were in October). Just be sure to catch her on a good day!

In all seriousness, congratulations on nailing your scene and getting some much-deserved kudos for it. You and Crystal work so seamlessly together and that is what makes Coop and Lizzie so fun to watch. Yesterday, the scenes aired which included Coop/Lizzie and Danny/Marina at Company: the girls against the boys. Those scenes were absolutely adorable. I loved how Coop not putting ketchup on Lizzie's burger was enough reason for her to forgive him. Adorable! I put that tape in the "save" pile.

Before my "comment" gets as long as your original post, let me wrap it up by saying that, as far as your friend goes, you can't go wrong. It will be gift enough for her that you'll be there, and then just the fact that you cared to bring anything will be wonderful in her eyes. Thinking back to my college graduation, I seem to remember ending up with flowers, picture frames, and cash at the end of the day. Since her parents probably have the flowers covered, and the other gifts are pretty generic, I like the idea Susan had about getting something appropriate to her major. Or, even better...if you can recall something from your years of friendship that would be meaningful on a different level (such as pertaining to an inside joke, or something only the two of you would know), woman ALWAYS love that stuff. Whatever you do, it will go over like a dream, I'm sure!

Counting the days till June,
Amanda

There is no reason for you to worry about how well you are doing your job... Coop and Lizzie are such an adorable couple! Like the others have been saying, I can't wait for June to get here. Both because I can't wait to see what's in store for Coop and Lizzie, and because you'll be in a scene shirtless ;) It's really cute that you went to the gym to prepare for the scene... although I'm sure you didn't need it at all. :)

Good luck with the surprise this weekend, I'm sure you just being there will be a great gift for her. She's a lucky girl to have such a sweet and caring friend to do something like that.

I know I join many others when I say that I'm loving Coop and Lizzie's growing relationship and it looks like we have lots of good stuff to look forward to! Congrats on your kudos - I'm not surprised though - you and Crystal are amazing on screen together.

About going to the gym for 3 days - there's no way it was in vain! At the very least, u worked off all those extra Milk Duds u've been eating since FL. ;)

I hope your surprise graduation weekend went off well! Did u figure out a gift? Had u given us more than a day to give u ideas, I may have been able to come up with something, LOL. I'm sure your presence was amazing in its own right.

Looking forward to hearing back from u soon,

Hey there, Mr. Driscoll. OMG, I think I made you sound old there. LOL! WoW! I have never posted in a popular guy's blog b4. This is all new to me, so bear w/ me here. You do an amazing job at GL, and I love the Coop/Lizzie scenario on the show. To be honest, if it is lame to post a new entry in a blog so early in the morning, then I am right there w/ ya, since I do the same thing....I even made an entry that is a voice recording, so instead, you can hear me say my thoughts. Sad, isn't it? LOL! Don't be cruel! haha. after you hear and take a view at it...then, let the teasing begin.

Hope you and the other fans here who post comments here takes a look at it. I better stop advertising this everywhere...I might get hit or something. LOL! But, seriously, it is so cool that you make a blog for us fans to read and the fans can keep in touch. That is a great thing! Very awesome. But, my babbling must come to an end now. If you like it....and that is a miracle in itself...you can check out more about me at the webpage...or check me out on "Rockland County" as Damien Givens. Uh-oh...I better get going while it is good. LOL!

Well after watching todays episode of GL, I have 3 thigs to say..1. I agree with the producers/directors it was “Unbelievably Cute”; 2. Props to the music director for choosing John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland" even though it is a bit cliche, it was the perfect song(and John Mayer is an increadibly talented song writer)& 3. Coop should have more topless scenes :P
Honestly, I love watching the relationship between Coop and Lizzie evolve! It's so soap opera but so impossibly addictive!

Their letting of such a talented actor. I hope to the good lord above you and Tom Pelphrey are not going ANYWHERE!! if that happens. I think i'm going to find another soap to watch. Well now that i got that off my chest.. I'll go for now. Hope you are doing well.
